Official City Meetings and Public Forums

Residents of Phoenix are encouraged to participate in local governance through several official meetings scheduled for Wednesday, February 25, 2026. The City Council has prioritized community services and utility infrastructure in today’s sessions.

  • Community Services and Education Subcommittee: This meeting will convene at 10:00 AM in the City Council Chambers located at 200 W. Jefferson St. Agenda items focus on youth programs and educational partnerships. Public attendance is welcome both in person and via the official WebEx digital platform.
  • Solid Waste Rate Community Info Session: The Public Works department is hosting a specialized information session regarding proposed solid waste rate adjustments. This meeting will take place from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Paradise Valley Community Center in the multipurpose room. Officials will present data on operational costs and gather resident feedback.
  • Maricopa County Board of Supervisors: A formal meeting of the Board of Supervisors is scheduled for 9:30 AM today. The session will cover county-wide administrative updates and is accessible via live stream for those unable to attend the downtown formal meeting room.

Public Health Advisory: Measles Transmission

The Maricopa County Department of Public Health (MCDPH) continues to monitor an active measles outbreak within the region. Following recent confirmations of community transmission, health officials have maintained a heightened alert status for late February. Residents are advised to verify their immunization records, specifically the MMR (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella) vaccine. Health officials recommend that parents of infants aged 6 to 11 months consult with pediatricians regarding early vaccination protocols during this period of local spread. Symptoms to monitor include high fever, cough, and a progressive rash; individuals experiencing these symptoms should contact their healthcare provider by phone prior to visiting a clinic to prevent further exposure.

Major Transportation and Infrastructure Alerts

Several significant roadway restrictions and utility projects will impact travel throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area today and through the overnight hours.

  • I-10 Broadway Curve Utility Work: Nightly full closures of the I-10 freeway are scheduled to begin at 9:00 PM tonight, February 25. These closures, facilitated by the Arizona Public Service Company (APS), involve the installation of new overhead power lines and poles. Traffic will be intermittently stopped in 15-minute intervals between Broadway Road and 48th Street. The work is expected to conclude by 5:00 AM on February 26.
  • Loop 101 and Loop 202 Interchange: The southbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway) primary ramp to eastbound Loop 202 remains closed as part of an ongoing widening and pavement repair project. This closure is expected to persist for several more days. Drivers are directed to use Price Road or Chandler Boulevard as alternate routes.
  • Sky Harbor International Airport: Construction on the Terminal 3 north concourse continues to necessitate overnight lane restrictions on Sky Harbor Boulevard. While terminal access remains open, travelers should account for potential delays and follow posted signage near the West Economy Garage.
