Public Holiday Notice: Presidents' Day Service Adjustments and Health Advisory

Presidents' Day Holiday Observance
In observance of the Presidents' Day holiday on Monday, February 16, 2026, most City of Phoenix municipal offices will be closed. While administrative services will be paused for the day, several essential services will continue with specific adjustments. Residents are encouraged to review the following service updates to ensure a smooth start to the week.
Solid Waste and Recycling Collection
Unlike many other major holidays, residential trash and recycling collection will remain unaffected by the Presidents' Day observance. Residents whose regular collection day falls on Monday should set out their bins as usual. However, please note the following facility closures:
- The 27th Avenue and North Gateway transfer stations will be closed to the public on Monday.
- The Public Works Customer Contact Center will be closed, with service requests handled via the myPHX311 portal. The center will reopen at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, February 17.
Public Transportation and Parking
Valley Metro services will maintain a modified schedule to accommodate holiday travelers. Both bus and light rail services will operate on a regular weekday schedule; however, there will be no Express or RAPID bus service on Monday. Commuters should also be aware of the following:
- Customer service windows at the Ed Pastor, Sunnyslope, and Central Station transit centers will be closed.
- Dial-a-Ride service remains available by reservation between 5 a.m. and 11 p.m.
- Parking meters remain in full effect. All meters are enforced from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, including holidays.
Parks, Libraries, and Cultural Facilities
Community and recreational facilities will see various closures throughout the city. While outdoor spaces remain accessible, indoor services are limited:
- All Phoenix Public Library locations will be closed. Digital resources and book drops remain available 24/7.
- City of Phoenix community centers will be closed.
- Public parks and trails will remain open for regular hours. Hikers are reminded to follow safety guidelines before visiting mountain trails.
- The S'edav Va'aki Museum will be closed on Monday, resuming regular hours on Tuesday.
Public Health Advisory: Measles Transmission
The Maricopa County Department of Public Health has issued a critical advisory following confirmed community transmission of measles. Health officials are urging residents to remain vigilant for symptoms, particularly if they have visited high-traffic areas in Mesa or Gilbert recently. Due to the highly contagious nature of the virus, the department recommends that infants aged 6 to 11 months receive an early MMR vaccination. Residents who develop a fever and unexplained rash are advised to contact their healthcare provider by phone before arriving at a clinic to prevent further exposure in waiting areas.
