Investigation focuses on break-in route, stolen firearms and a possible getaway vehicle

Police and federal investigators are searching for three suspects after a burglary at a Phoenix gun store that resulted in the theft of firearms and ammunition. The break-in was reported at Legendary Guns, near 19th Avenue and Colter Street, where investigators say the suspects entered the business while it was closed and removed weapons from a storage area.

Authorities say surveillance video shows the suspects making multiple entries into the store during the closure period. Investigators believe the group gained access by creating an opening into an adjoining vacant business and then moving through a hole cut in the wall separating the properties. The method suggests a deliberate attempt to avoid entry through the storefront and to reduce visibility from the street.

A reward of up to $5,000 has been announced for information leading to an arrest and conviction. The reward is being offered jointly by a federal firearms enforcement agency and an industry trade organization. Tips can be provided to law enforcement through established reporting channels, including anonymous options where available.

What investigators say happened

  • The burglary targeted a firearm retailer in central Phoenix near 19th Avenue and Colter Street.
  • Investigators say guns and ammunition were taken from a storage area rather than a public-facing display.
  • Surveillance video indicates the suspects entered the premises more than once while the store was closed.
  • The suspects are believed to have exited through a wall opening into a neighboring vacant business.

Investigators are also working to identify a vehicle possibly connected to the crime. A blue sports coupe was recorded by a nearby business’s camera and is being examined as a potential getaway car. Authorities have not publicly released suspect descriptions beyond the number of individuals involved, and no arrests have been announced.

Why gun store burglaries draw federal attention

Gun store burglaries are typically investigated with urgency because stolen firearms can be difficult to recover quickly once they enter illicit markets. In cases involving federally licensed firearms dealers, investigators may also coordinate with federal agencies responsible for firearm commerce oversight and illegal gun-trafficking investigations.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the suspects, the vehicle, or the stolen firearms to contact law enforcement.

The investigation remains active. Authorities have not disclosed how many firearms were stolen, the types of guns taken, or whether any weapons have been recovered.
