Phoenix officer-involved shooting at west Phoenix home leaves one man dead after reported attack

What happened

A Phoenix police officer shot and killed an adult man during a response to a reported shooting at a home in west Phoenix, authorities said. The incident occurred on January 26, 2026, at about 6:19 p.m., near 73rd Avenue and Cordes Road. The address released for the call was 7300 W. Cordes Road.

Police were dispatched after receiving information that a man was firing at a house and that a family member had been hit. When the first officer arrived, a community member told the officer that someone was shooting people and urged the officer to go inside.
