Traffic and Street Maintenance Alerts

The City of Phoenix Street Transportation Department advises residents of several active street and intersection restrictions concluding today, Sunday, February 22, 2026. Motorists should anticipate delays or seek alternate routes in the following areas:

  • 12th Street: Partial closures remain in effect between Almeria Road and Palm Lane for street transportation work. Additionally, 12th Street is restricted between Turney Avenue and Devonshire Avenue due to ongoing private development projects. These restrictions are scheduled to be lifted by the end of the day.
  • 107th Avenue & Camelback Road: A partial intersection restriction is currently active for private development work. This project is expected to continue through late March.
  • 16th Street & Buckeye Road: Commuters are advised of partial restrictions at this intersection for utility maintenance.

On the regional freeway system, the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) is completing significant work zone setups for the Loop 303 Improvement Project. North- and southbound Interstate 17 are narrowed to two or three lanes between Dixileta Drive and Dove Valley Road. While most ramp closures at Sonoran Desert Drive were scheduled to lift early Sunday morning, heavy congestion is expected throughout the afternoon as lanes are restored. Furthermore, the segment of Loop 101 between Bell Road and Shea Boulevard remains under heavy restriction for widening and safety upgrades.

Public Health and Safety Announcements

The Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) has officially launched its new "Community Profiles" interactive tool. This platform provides residents and local officials with direct access to localized public health data, including wellness trends and environmental health factors across Phoenix neighborhoods.

Additionally, the City of Phoenix reminds the public of the upcoming implementation of the revised park usage ordinance. Starting March 30, 2026, the distribution of harm reduction kits and the provision of medical care in public parks without prior city authorization will be prohibited. Public health officials and community leaders are currently providing resources to transition these services to authorized facilities to ensure continued care for vulnerable populations.

Civic Notices and Public Service Updates

Following the conclusion of Phoenix Employee Remembrance Week, the city honors the 101 public servants recently memorialized for their dedicated service. The city also confirms that photo safety cameras have been fully reactivated at key high-traffic intersections to enhance road safety and reduce speeding-related accidents.

The 2026 Arizona Rural and Public Health Policy Forum concludes its final sessions today at the University of Arizona Phoenix Virginia G. Piper Auditorium. The forum has focused on heat resilience and legislative priorities for the upcoming session.
