City Council and Subcommittee Meetings
The City of Phoenix has scheduled several official meetings for Wednesday, January 28, 2026. Residents are encouraged to participate in the local democratic process by attending in person or viewing sessions online through official city communication channels. Notable sessions include:
- Community Services and Education (CSE) Subcommittee: Convening at 10:00 AM in the City Council Chambers at 200 W. Jefferson St. The agenda features critical updates on the Head Start Birth to Five program for Districts 1, 3, 4, 5, 7, and 8. Additionally, the subcommittee will discuss the 2025 Future Leaders Youth Town Hall and receive a federal update on citywide programs.
- Maricopa County 2026 Community Health Needs Assessment: As part of the CSE session, officials will review the current progress of the 2026 health assessment, which serves as a roadmap for addressing public health priorities across the valley.
- Fast-Track Cities Ad-Hoc Committee: A revised session is scheduled for 2:30 PM to discuss ongoing initiatives related to public health and community outreach.
- Mayor's Commission on Disability Issues (MCDI): This commission will meet at 4:15 PM to review accessibility improvements and policy recommendations for the current fiscal year.
Traffic and Roadway Restrictions
Public service announcements from the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport indicate significant lane restrictions active today. Motorists should plan for the following disruptions:
- 35th Avenue and Indian School Road: Northbound 35th Avenue is currently narrowed to two through lanes at the Indian School Road intersection to accommodate essential utility work. These restrictions are scheduled to remain in place until 3:00 PM today.
- Sky Harbor Boulevard: The leftmost lane on eastbound Sky Harbor Boulevard, specifically on the north side of Terminal 3, will be restricted tonight starting at 10:00 PM. This restriction is part of an ongoing five-night project and will conclude at 6:00 AM tomorrow. Access to the terminal and parking garages will be maintained, though minor delays are expected.
Administrative and Utility Notices
The City of Phoenix and state departments have issued several administrative notices regarding upcoming deadlines and system updates:
- Scheduled Website Maintenance: Although occurring this coming Saturday, January 31, the city has issued an active notice for residents. Between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM this weekend, digital services may be temporarily unavailable. Residents needing to pay bills or request records are encouraged to complete these tasks before the weekend.
- Transaction Privilege Tax (TPT) Renewals: The Arizona Department of Revenue reminds business owners that 2026 TPT license renewals must be completed through the official state portal by the end of January to avoid late fees and ensure compliance for the new tax year.
