Public Service Announcement: GIS System Maintenance

The City of Phoenix has announced a scheduled system upgrade that will affect several online mapping and data services. Beginning Friday, January 23, 2026, at 7:00 PM and continuing through Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 7:00 PM, GIS mapping applications may be temporarily unavailable. This maintenance window impacts the public's ability to access the interactive Street Closures Map and other geographic information tools. Residents planning to verify permit locations or construction zones via the city website are encouraged to do so before the Friday evening cutoff. We apologize for any inconvenience as we work to improve our digital infrastructure.

Health Advisory: Measles Exposure Monitoring

The Maricopa County Department of Public Health (MCDPH) continues to urge residents to remain vigilant following a confirmed measles exposure earlier this month. While the initial exposure occurred at a theater in Gilbert, the monitoring period for potentially affected individuals remains active through January 30, 2026. Health officials are specifically asking those who may have been exposed to watch for symptoms, which include a high fever (potentially exceeding 104°F), red and watery eyes, a cough, and a runny nose. A distinctive red, blotchy rash typically appears several days after the initial symptoms, beginning at the hairline and spreading downward. If you develop these symptoms, please contact your healthcare provider by phone before arriving at a clinic to prevent further spread in waiting areas.

Transportation Alert: Weekend Freeway Restrictions

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) has issued a travel advisory for several major corridors starting Friday, January 23, 2026. Motorists should prepare for the following impacts:

  • Interstate 17 (North Phoenix): Northbound and southbound lanes will be narrowed to a single lane between State Route 74 (Carefree Highway) and Anthem Way for lane striping. These restrictions are scheduled for Friday night beginning at 7:00 PM. Daytime restrictions on the same stretch are also expected on Friday between 6:00 AM and 7:00 PM.
  • Loop 202 Santan Freeway: Both Arizona Avenue and Lindsay Road will be closed in both directions at the Loop 202 interchange starting at 10:00 PM on Friday. These closures are necessary for a widening project and will remain in effect until Monday morning. Recommended detours include using McQueen, Cooper, or Gilbert roads.
  • State Route 387: Final lane restrictions for the current improvement phase near Casa Grande are scheduled to conclude on Friday, January 23.

Local Street Construction: 107th Avenue

The Street Transportation Department reminds residents that 107th Avenue remains under partial closure between Indian School Road and Calle Del Sol. This restriction is part of ongoing infrastructure improvements and is scheduled to continue through January 29, 2026. Drivers are encouraged to allow extra time when commuting through the western districts of the city.
