Official City Council and Subcommittee Meetings

The City of Phoenix has scheduled several public meetings for Wednesday, March 11, 2026. Residents are encouraged to participate in the local governing process through the following sessions:

  • Economic Development and the Arts Subcommittee: Convening at 10:00 AM at City Hall. The agenda includes a discussion on the acquisition of vacant land in Spark Area 2 (District 8) and a request to award the Youth Workforce Development Services Contract. Additionally, officials will present the 'Phoenix Economic Overview and Update: Part 2,' focusing on global positioning and market access.
  • Business and Workforce Development Board: The National Model for Mobility Steering Committee will hold a virtual meeting starting at 9:00 AM to discuss regional labor strategies and mobility initiatives.

Public Health Advisory: Measles Surveillance

The Maricopa County Department of Public Health (MCDPH) continues to monitor a measles outbreak within the region. As of March 2026, health officials have issued an enhanced surveillance alert. Residents are advised to follow the 'Suspect, Isolate, and Report' protocol. Healthcare providers are directed to consider measles in patients presenting with fever and a rash, particularly those with no known source of exposure. MCDPH recommends that infants aged 6-11 months receive an early MMR vaccination in accordance with current local outbreak guidance.

Traffic and Infrastructure Alerts

Motorists should anticipate delays and planned restrictions on major thoroughfares today:

  • 7th Street Restrictions: Both northbound and southbound lanes on 7th Street will be narrowed to two lanes between the I-10 and McDowell Road. This restriction is active daily from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM and is scheduled to remain in place through Friday, March 13, to facilitate median improvements. Southbound traffic will be unable to make left turns in the work zone.
  • Red Bull Showrun Preparations: The city is initiating event-related logistics for the upcoming Red Bull Showrun. Residents in the downtown area and near the Convention Center should expect increased activity and potential intermittent lane closures as crews begin site preparation.

Public Service Announcements

The City of Phoenix reminds residents of the following ongoing services and recently approved ordinances:

  • Heat Relief Services: Under the 2026 Heat Response Plan, 24/7 respite centers are operational to support vulnerable populations. The primary location at 20 W. Jackson Street remains open for those seeking relief from rising temperatures.
  • Park Ordinance Notice: Residents are reminded of the 'Safe Medical Treatment in City Parks' ordinance. While currently in a public feedback phase, the regulation—which prohibits unauthorized medical treatment in city parks and mountain preserves—is slated for full implementation on March 30, 2026.
